Privacy Policy

This policy explains what our website and apps do with information, in plain language. It applies to the website luminoussoftware.studio and to the apps listed below. Because different apps handle data differently, each has its own section.

Who we are

Luminous Software Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a small, independent software studio and the data controller for the purposes of this policy. You can reach us any time at luminious.software.studio@gmail.com.

Data we don’t collect

Across our apps and this website:

• No third-party advertising and no ad SDKs.
• No third-party analytics or tracking that follows you across apps or the web.
• No selling or renting of your personal data — ever.
• No account required to use our apps, unless a specific feature you choose needs one.

This website is a static site with no tracking cookies. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and reliability.

Daily Dashboard

Daily Dashboard is a local-first Android app. The information you create in the app — tasks, reminders, notes, notebooks, tags, plans and settings — is stored on your device. We do not operate any backend that receives or stores this content.

For weather and air quality, the app uses your approximate (coarse) location — or a place you set — to fetch a local forecast. Those coarse coordinates are sent to the studio’s own weather proxy, which fetches the forecast and air-quality AQI from OpenWeather (this keeps any API key off your device). No location history is stored (roughly an 11 km grid cache), and if you decline the permission the app falls back to a default city. Sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset and moon phase are computed on-device and need no network.

Google user data

Daily Dashboard offers two optional Google features. Both are off by default and only turn on if you choose to connect them.

• Google Calendar (read-only). If you connect Google Calendar, the app requests read-only access and mirrors your upcoming events (about the next 30 days) onto your agenda. It never creates, edits, or deletes events. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly scope. Event data is used only to render your agenda on your device and is not sent to the studio or anyone else.
• Google Drive backup (app folder). If you enable backup, the app stores a backup file in a private, hidden application folder in your own Google Drive, so you can restore your data. It can only access files it creates in that app folder — it cannot see or touch your other Drive files, and the studio never receives a copy. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata scope.
• Google sign-in. Used only to authenticate the two optional features above. The app stores just your account email on the device — no password, and no copy on any server.

Google user data obtained through these scopes is used only to provide the user-facing features described above. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared with third parties.

Limited Use. Daily Dashboard’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Revoking access. You can disconnect either integration inside the app at any time. You can also revoke access from your Google Account → Security → Third-party access (or via myaccount.google.com/permissions).

Deleting your data. Your app data lives on your device, so uninstalling Daily Dashboard removes it. If you enabled Drive backup, you can delete the backup file from your own Google Drive. Disconnecting Calendar stops any further access to your events.

Other device permissions. The app may ask for notifications/alarms (to deliver the reminders you set) and location (for weather, air quality, and on-device sunrise/sunset). These are used for those features only.

Garage Studio

Garage Studio is a cloud-synced Android app for independent garages. Unlike our local-first apps, Garage Studio keeps a workshop’s business data in secure cloud sync so the same information is available on the owner’s phone and the counter tablet.

Depending on how a garage uses it, the app holds business records such as: customer and vehicle details, job cards and invoices, inventory and supplier records, worker profiles (including photo, ID and salary) and attendance, and service-reminder call lists. This data is used to run the garage’s own operations.

• Storage. Data is stored via secure cloud sync so it stays consistent across the garage’s devices, and is tied to the garage’s subscription account.
• Permissions. The app requests only Internet and notifications. It does not use location, the camera manifest, or any Google Calendar/Drive (OAuth) access.
• No selling. We don’t sell garage or customer data; it’s used only to provide the app’s features to that garage.
• Access & deletion. Access is subscription-gated and enforced on the server. To export or delete a garage’s data, contact us at the email below.

Society Manage

Society Manage is an Android app for residential/apartment societies. It is multi-tenant: each society’s data is isolated to that society and is controlled by that society’s committee.

Depending on how a society uses the app, it may hold information such as: resident names, flat/unit numbers, and phone numbers; owner/member/tenant roles; vehicle details; visitor logs (including optional visitor photos) and delivery/service entries; staff records and attendance; notices, complaints, bookings, and survey responses.

• Purpose. This information is used to run the society’s own gate security, communication, and operations features.
• Isolation & control. Each society’s data is walled off with row-level security; one society can never see another’s. The society’s own committee administers members and data for their society.
• On-device face recognition. Face matching for returning visitors is computed on the device to speed up re-entry — not for surveillance.
• Automatic cleanup. Visitor photos and face data are automatically deleted after a configurable window (default 30 days).
• No selling. We don’t sell society or resident data, and never share data across societies.
• Money outside the app. Maintenance dues and collections are handled outside the app.

Android permissions Society Manage may request: Camera (visitor/worker photos, optional per action), Notifications (visitor arrivals, delivery approvals, notices), Phone/dialer (one-tap Call opens the dialer — the app doesn’t place calls itself or read your call log), and Internet (sync with the society’s secure backend). It does not use background location, contacts, or SMS.

Children’s privacy

Our apps are not directed to children under the age required by law in your region, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

We aim to keep data safe with sensible, proportionate measures. Because our apps are local-first, most data stays on your device, under the protection of your device’s own security (lock screen, encryption). Any optional cloud backup lives in your own account. No method of storage or transmission is ever 100% secure, but we design to collect and expose as little as possible.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date at the top, and note significant changes on this page or in the app.
